The Redmi Band is highly affordable, but offers improvements over the Mi Band 4

Xiaomi unveiled the super affordable Redmi Band at just CNY 95 – that’s $14 or €13. Despite the low pricing, this smart band actually has a couple of advantages over the more premium (but still highly affordable) Mi Band 4.

It starts with the 1.08″ color OLED screen, a fraction larger than the 0.95″ screen of the Mi band. The glass above the screen is completely flat. The band can display notifications from your phone and also has a screen with the weather forecast.

The Redmi Band also simplifies charging as it has a standard USB-A plug, removing the need for a custom charging adapter. The battery life is listed as 14 days, a week less than its Mi sibling, but you won’t be charging it very often either way. A full charge takes 2 hours.

There is an optical heart rate sensor and activity tracking for 5 sport modes. Sleep tracking is part of the package too. The band is rated up to 5 ATM water resistance so you can go swimming in the pool with it.

The one thing that is missing is NFC – but the international version of the Mi Band 4 doesn’t have it either (only the Chinese version does). AliPay’s offline payments are also supported (which is barcode-based).

The band is available in Black, Blue, Red and Brown and you can choose from 72 “watch faces” to customize the look of the band.

The Redmi Band will be available in China at 10:00 local time on April 9. If you pre-order now, the price is CNY 95, but if you get it after it launches it raises to CNY 99.
