Redmi announced the Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max in India back in March. The Note 9 Pro went on sale in the country on March 17, but the sales of the Max variant were postponed due to the COVID-19 lockdown. However, the Chinese phone maker has now announced that Note 9 Pro Max will be available for purchase in India, starting from May 12 through Mi.com.
This announcement from Redmi comes days after the Indian government eased lockdown restrictions in the country and allowed e-commerce companies to deliver non-essential goods in areas marked as orange and green zones.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max comes in three memory versions – 6GB/64GB priced at INR16,499 ($220/200), 6GB/128GB priced at INR17,999 ($240/220), and 8GB/128GB, which costs INR19,999 ($265/240). Do note that the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max was launched at a lesser price but it got costlier due to the Goods & Services Tax (GST) hike last month.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is powered by the Snapdragon 720G SoC and runs Android 10-based MIUI 11 out of the box. It’s built around a 6.67″ FullHD+ display that has a punch hole up top in the center for the 32MP selfie camera.

Around the back, you get a quad camera setup, comprising a 64MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro and 2MP depth sensor units. The smartphone comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and packs a 5,020 mAh battery, with 33W fast charging support.
