Xiaomi announced the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and the Redmi Note 9 Pro in India and later brought the latter to other markets at Redmi Note 9S. Today the company is announcing the official global rollout of the series and odds are we will get to see the vanilla Redmi Note 9 for the first time.
The announcement is taking place online as is the norm these days and you can follow it in the livestream below. It starts at noon UTC.
The Redmi Note 9 is expected to keep the design of its bigger and mightier siblings – four cameras, lined up in a square, while the front will be a bit smaller and the punch hole is likely to move to the upper left corner, instead of being centered.
Specs-wise, the phone was rumored to come with Helio G85 chipset, huge 5,020 mAh battery with 18W fast-charging, and a 48 MP main camera. Given the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max started from $200/180 and the Redmi Note 9 Pro is just $175/155, we expect the basic Redmi Note 9 to be even cheaper with a price tag of around $150/130.
Yesterday Xiaomi revealed a phone called Mi Note 10 Lite is also getting announced today. There is a good chance that the affordable alternative of the Mi Note 10 cameraphone is going to appear on stage even though the event was initially announced as a Redmi affair and that was supposed to be an independent brand.
